I walked towards those remaining in the grove after one of the invaders had been slain but it was apparently too late. They were looking right at me and yet they couldn't see me... they only looked past me to where my body lay. In a pool of blood and without pulse, they came to my aid, my friends and my love, and buried me with the rest of those who had fought so valiantly to defend our land. It was also time for them to hurriedly abandon our fallen paradise through the means of our great magic. In all the splendors of this world, there were none upon which we could remain for too long, before Earth's own inhabitants decided they wanted bloodshed, without ever truly appreciating what he had done there... I suppose it never really mattered. Today is a split second of tomorrow.

I had seen things that date back to this life. Colours that flow in pathways and patterns known only to others like them, each colour with its own discipline or study. There isn't much information known that backs up concepts such as the paths, shapeshifting abilities, etc. When it is said that the memory of the Danaan lives in its people, it is certainly true because that is where most of the recollection and memories of the Danaan may be found - through its people.

The pathways are disciplines or studies on which one is always journeying. There are five of said pathways. The first is the path of the Warrior. Second is the path of Scholars. The third is of Travellers. The fourth, of Sages, and the fifth is of the Lords. Pathways such as those briefly touched upon are related to applicable concepts in de Danaan society. Unlike the Indian caste system, the first or second paths aren't regarded distastefully in regard to the fourth or fifth; they are merely stages in which one must pass in order to learn. Among the de Danaan a theory exists, involving an application of the four horsemen of apocalypse; it is that each of the four horsemen are guardians or caretakers of humanity. The white(teacher), red(chaos/conflict), black(balance) and pale(death/change) are seen as aspects of the man or woman who has walked the path of Sages. From there s/he can only advance to the next level in the system of society, which is the fifth, the path of Lords.

There are constant descriptions of the de Danaan as beings of light, when the untold reality is that there is a dark side to the de Danaan; one which must always be in check, and only called upon as necessary. Despite the reputation the de Danaan have on the web today for appearing as beings of light, truth be known as manifest in the Earthen sphere they appear as shining beings, and outside of the Earthen sphere as opalescent. They were originally beings, grand in height, and very slender, but over time were reduced in stature and importance and became grouped with the Sidhe.

It is said the ones of light came through the mists. Because of their arrival, through clouds, through the sky, through the mysts, etc. they're regarded as a divine race. History reveals the de Danaan did much travelling before arriving at Eire. Denmark literally means 'the kingdom of Danaan". Denmark and Norway were only a few places in the North where their famed cities were found. Places deeply rooted with much Scandinavian influence; here we find how the de Danaan are part of Scandinavian belief. Two of the nine worlds in Scandinavian belief are Alfheim and Svartalheim, two places reputed for association with elves and dark elves. While Elves themselves are generally regarded as separate from de Danaan due to size differences, et al., at least some of the de Danaan were believed to have (at some point) come from Alfheim, and at some point they return there. It could also have been the Leanan Sidhe who provided the form for the dark elf in Svartalheim; the dark elf with which the de Danaan shares certain characteristics. Scandinavian Alfheim is no different than Irish Tir na nOg, or Welsh Annwn; all three are locations in the Otherworld, beyond what we call the veil(s). But even before Falias, Gorias, Finias, Murias, we find reference of a race called the Danaan mentioned often in Vergil's The Aeneid, placing them in the Mediterranean Sea.

"First, with a train of Danaan spears,"...
"But other Danaans filled their place,
And darts and stones still rain apace."...

-Vergil, The Aeneid

Quotations describe the Trojans in battle with the de Danaan armed with spears, and a most common form of fighting with spears would appear as a phalanx. The spear is also associated with Lugh of the Long Arm. It goes on to talk about how the more they killed, the dead were only replaced with more living armies, and the battle went on.

Time wasn't regarded among the de Danaan as it was among humanity. In historical recording, the de Danaan ruled Ireland between 200-300 years. Because it is regarded as this length of time in historical recording, 200-300 human yrs, it would naturally be accounted differently among the de Danaan. Some of the folklorist poetry which specifically depicts faeries also admits that the span of one's lifetime of inspiration can be experienced in a night of dreaming...clearly something to be said about the time span differences between humans and the sidhe.

It has been suggested by some that the de Danaan were not from this world, whereas others try to meld them into the lineage of Jehovah as one of the tribes of Israel. They were divine in many respects, and were regarded as such because of what they brought with them; their skills, arts, and technology. They won some wars, and lost some, but there is no question that they were not of this world. Having been called on many accounts beings of light due to their shining opalescence, its clear that the de Danaan were from elsewhere and some of their technology supports that theory.

It is sometimes thought that they were so in touch with the stars that the de Danaan were star-Gods or Goddesses themselves, which is further supported by reports of the de Danaan descending on cloud ships, through the air and mists, and so forth. The idea that they were in some part, stars, may well help bridge the gap between the history of the de Danaan and the purported ideology that they are or were in fact star beings (in modern otherkin or new age circles referred to as Starcedes). The very idea of a star-Goddess and the adjoining ideology of starcedes is used by some who believe there's an apparent connection between the de Danaan and the Pleiadian System. Whether or not this is true, is what personal exploration is for - to help those with de Danaan memories understand themselves and why they're here.

To further play the eccentric card with mention of Pleiades and Atlantis, some claims place the de Danaan in Atlantis at some point. In Atlantis at some point wouldn't be so difficult, except that the same people who purport this also claim that they founded Atlantis. While there were many different races on Atlantis, not all of them were Danaan, and the de Danaan certainly didn't found it. There are parts of the mythos involving the de Danaan and Atlantis that involve types of magic towards the end of Atlantis' existence above sea level that are rarely ever talked about, even today. Mostly its because there's been no archaeological evidence of it; that's like looking for physical evidence of something that exists outside of the physical sphere when on Earth at a time when Earth was surrounded by other spheres of existence without veils to shadow and separate.

I would recommend anyone interested or further interested in the Tuatha de Danaan go look for more info. You be the judge, however your best shot, esp. for all of you returning Danaan, would be to seek the info in your most esoteric ways; it would be much better than any information you'll find on the web.
